The Sidney Forrest Clarinet Competition commemorates the significant influence of the renowned artist-teacher, Sidney Forrest (1918–2013). Mr. Forrest taught clarinet at The Peabody Institute for 40 years, Interlochen Center for the Arts for 45 summers, and Catholic University of America for 50 years, reaching hundreds of students internationally.

Consisting of two divisions for high school and college aged-clarinetists, the Sidney Forrest Clarinet Competition is committed to upholding the highest standard of excellence in clarinet performance.
